Dear Edinburgh Council,

A wee walk round town at Festival time highlights the dire need for new public spaces for Markets, Venues, and Art Installations.

We would like to suggest a solution that is right under your nose – namely, the re-development of the appropriately named Market Street car park.

This could incorporate two levels of parking with a public square above and could be paid for by additional the additional parking levies and rental of the Public Space.

While you're at it, why not create an enclosed, top end street food market, similar to the Mercato San Miguel in Madrid? This could be used to showcase the very best of Scotland's amazing Larder.
